About Us

Born on the Southern Coast. Built for Life on the Water.

Salt Line was founded by Calvin Rheeder after spending countless hours in Struisbaai — on the boats before sunrise, around the harbour with local fishermen, and enjoying the unique lifestyle that makes South Africa's coastal towns so special.

What started as a love for the ocean quickly revealed a gap in the market. While there were plenty of outdoor and fashion brands available, there were very few that truly represented the coastal lifestyle lived by the people who call these towns home. The early mornings on the water, afternoons on the beach, weekends spent fishing, surfing, diving, boating, and living life around the ocean deserved a brand of its own.

Salt Line was created to fill that gap.

Our mission is simple: to create premium-quality lifestyle apparel inspired by the people, culture, and traditions of South Africa's most iconic coastal towns. Every collection is designed to tell the story of a specific place and the lifestyle that surrounds it.

Our first collection is inspired by Struisbaai — a town known for its rich fishing heritage, world-class boating, endless coastline, and deep connection to the ocean. From the Yellowtail that roam its offshore waters to the community that gathers around the harbour, every design reflects the character of the town that inspired it.

But Struisbaai is only the beginning.

Our vision is to build a collection for every coastal town, with each range remaining true to the unique identity, culture, and way of life that makes that destination special. Whether it's the fishing communities of the South Coast, the surf culture of the Eastern Cape, or the boating lifestyle of the West Coast, every collection will have its own story to tell.

Salt Line is more than clothing.

It's a celebration of the people who wake before sunrise to launch a boat, chase a swell, explore the coastline, or simply find peace by the ocean.

Built for the coast. Inspired by the towns. Made for those who live salty.
